Connect Analysis Services 2008/2005 from Different Domain Use

In one of my project I was working with Remote client. Basically, SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services Objects were available at Remote server. Me & my team were developing Reports on that SSAS with SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.

As we are working from off-shore, first we tried using Remote desktop to develop reports but performance of that RDP so poor with respect with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Business Intelligence development which is very rich development environment.

We tried to work locally, but due to different domain we were not able to connect SSAS 2008. As we know that SSAS only allows users of the same domain or trusted domains and it does not allow users from any domain except from these two.

We found one tick, we can cheat SQL Server, and we created a user on the computer where SSAS instance is running with exactly the same user name and password and tried to connect. AND IT’S DONE.

This is because the user will be authenticated on the Analysis Services computer by using the local user account with the matching credentials.

Thanks
Sandip
